Artist's Comments

Been wanting take water shots since forever, and i got my (dad's) new camera couple days ago, so i set up my "studio" and began the experiment. Took a total of 281 shots and only got about 20 drops. Yes i know... you cant actually see any drops in this... but i still like the way it looks. My cat came in midway and started drinking the water =P [link]

this is the first, i've learned much from this and plan to do it again

as always, constructive critique please, comments and favs always appreciated

This is very cool! What settings did you have the camera on and did you just sit there and click every time a drop went near it?
:iconhakhawk:
that looks pretty damn crazy. i like it.

on manual setting, took a few test shots to get the exposure right... set up as many lights as possible so i could have a nice/fast shutter speed. Its a D70 so i just have to hold the button and keep dropping and hope it captures a couple

if you can, do it outside on a sunny day... thats should give you some awsome lighting and you could put the shutter spd waaay up. I live in an apartment... so... i just got some flourescents, put the iso on 1600 and apature on the lowest it goes, turned out alright. Oh i also used the flash for some too, that worked pretty well but you cant take continuous shots, so it helps to have somebody else to do the dripping. Also, keep the images at the highest quality so you can crop it in a bit... you might not want to get the camera too close to the water =P experiment with different shaped objects to drop into and the height of the drop, some just work better
good luck
